Music is a universal part of the human experience.  It stimulates the intellect and stirs the emotions.  Some of our most enjoyable social experiences are formed around experiencing music, but it can be just as pleasurable in solitude.  An education in music provides enrichment for a lifetime!

 My goal is to provide a well-rounded education in music that will enhance a student's musical experiences for a lifetime.  I love music history and theory, science, and storytelling, and I use that passion to cultivate an understanding of music that goes beyond rote learning or imitation and gives the student the knowledge and confidence to engage with music independently, as a performer, a creator, and as an informed listener.

I teach private lessons in piano and voice in Lakewood, Colorado.  I have a large, active studio, full of vibrant, fun, and fascinating students, and I learn so much from them every day. 

 The one-on-one format of a private lesson allows me to create a unique educational experience that is infinitely adaptable to the needs of the individual student.

Rather than falling back on the way my teachers taught me as a child, I embrace my young students as digital natives, and use iPad apps and games in every lesson, not just because it's fun, but because that's how today's kids learn!   

I have worked with a number of gifted students, students with various learning disabilities, and students to which both labels apply, and I enjoy them all thoroughly!

New Students

I enjoy working with students ages five to adult, at all levels of experience, from beginning to advanced.

As a mother and stepmom, I understand the demands on modern families, so, rather than going with the trend and eliminating "makeup lessons," I have invested in online scheduling for my studio, so my students are able to quickly reschedule their lessons as needed to fit the demands of their busy lives.

It is difficult for parents or potential students without previous musical training to really know who is a qualified, professional teacher, and who is teaching as a hobby and hasn't changed anything about their teaching since 1982,  I maintain professional certification through MTNA.

I teach after school on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays,  and during school hours Monday-Friday for home school students or adults with flexible schedules.
